Everyone warns you about the sleep deprivation before becoming a mom. They say “get some rest while you can.” Well, if you are anything like me, you completely ignore that advice. For some reason I thought I could conquer the endless nights of sleep. All I need is coffee right? Wrong. Newborns eat as little as every hour. Every. Hour. Let that sink in. When I was breastfeeding often times my daughter never wanted to unlatch. Eventually I switched to formula, but of course I still had to wake up in the middle of the night. I let her do her thing for two to three months. Once four months hit I decided to get her on a schedule. A friend of mine recommended the following:
- Go for a long walk through the neighborhood
- Give her a bath
- Rub lotion on her, put sleeper on, then put lights out
We don’t always stick to that anymore, which is fine because we now have The Nested Bean Sack. This sack is helpful. Especially these days because she loves to have my hand on her. It is comforting to know the weight of my hand is on her.
The sack is exactly what it says, a sack. It is an egg-shaped sack, carrying weight in place of me having to hold my hand on her. This sleeper is an amazing helper for more than just night-time sleep. There are times I am wanting to clean or get some work done, but Riley Blake gets super fussy and showing all the signs of wanting to just sleep. I will plop The Nested Bean on and she goes right to sleep. Without needing me to rock her or anything. The first few times and even still to this day I am so shocked! It is truly a miracle.
Here are a few fun facts about the sack:
- Adjustable shoulders
- Two way zipper system
- Machine washable
- Two sizes: 3-6 months or 6-12 months
